APPEALING REASONS ON CHOOSING TO DO FREELANCING JOB OR ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Many of us, as an employed individual, might have been stuck on the current job, and wanted to try something new, and wishing one day that we could start a business of its own or go freelancing job , where you are the boss. With that, freelancing has been one of your option to try with, but is afraid to quit the present job since you have the fear to risk yourselves of the unknown.

If you are not happy anymore in the corporate world, then it’s time to stop procrastinating and start the move. But before you get started, do a soul searching to carefully weigh things on why do you want to go freelancing.

As I go through, here are my 8 appealing reasons on choosing to do freelancing job or entrepreneurship.

YOU ARE THE BOSS

The most common reason for starting out in freelancing job or entrepreneurship is to become your own boss. Where you have the full authority to decide of your own without the dictation or control from the management.

NO MORE OFFICE POLITICS IN FREELANCING

Workplace politics are the behavior or attitudes in an organization that involves power and authority that keep on their advantage that makes other people miserable or unhappy. In starting to work by yourself, you can avoid these toxic office politics

YOU ARE IN CONTROL

Freelancers and entrepreneurs make their own decisions. They have the full power to make the decision on how things will run.

YOU CHOOSE YOUR WORKING HOURS

When you are a freelancer or entrepreneur, you can set flexibility of your own time where you feel you are most productive or at your convenience.

FREELANCING CAN WORK FROM ANYWHERE

You have the freedom to choose a location in doing your freelancing job for as long as the job gets done accordingly.

YOU HAVE HIGHER EARNING POTENTIAL

Sure, in the early days of your career as a business owner – you’ll take the work you can get. Overtime, however, you’ll have more offers of work than you can handle. Then you can pick and choose, and, better still, you can raise your rates. Traditionally, freelancing job are paid much higher rates than their employed equivalents, because freelancers meet all their expenses. They buy their equipment, they pay for their health and insurance, and etc.

YOU WILL BUILD CONFIDENCE

When you do freelancing or entrepreneurship, you only have yourself to rely on. You manage your business or the services on your freelancing job on your own, you’ll carry out work without any input from anyone else, and you’ll manage projects from start to finish. With so much responsibility, and the experiences that you will have,  you develop yourself to becoming great.

YOU CAN DO THE WORK YOU LOVE

You choose the kind of work that you feel like doing. Liking what you do and liking how you do it is a successful feeling you give into yourself.

Switching to a different career such as freelancing job or entrepreneurship will never be that easy. As much as possible, gather up as much experience as you can, and when you feel like you already have the confidence, then go for it. You might as well do a slow transition from having a full-time job, you will do part-time freelancing, and soon become a full-time one. Do not underestimate yourself, it is part of the process where you need to put efforts hardly in the early days, but as soon as you overcome that difficult step, it will all be worth it.

Introduction

Opting to choose freelancing as your career path may have not been easy due to a lot of matters to consider. You could have been in a situation that left you without a choice or just trying to find what you really want to do for the rest of your life. Either way, freelancing would be much easier if we are knowledgeable of the difference between what you can do, what you want to do and what you are willing to do to be able to do what you love. This is called knowing your right niche.

Niche, according to Cambridge Dictionary is a job or a position that is very suitable for someone, especially one that they like.

How to Choose the Right Niche?

As a freelancer, more often than not, it would take some serious amount of time to choose the right niche. You might already have something in your mind but we are not just talking about what you want to do but also about how much can you earn from it? Is it worth your while?  Some people want to do what they love but some would put more consideration on how much they can be earning.

Here are some tips on finding the right niche.

  1. Know Your Capacity at Hand

As a professional, you must point out what your true capacity is. It is not enough to think that you can do a specific task when you are only familiar about it. Relevant skills must be pointed out in order to determine what is enough and what you should be working on to improve. Along the way of building your career, you might find yourself realizing that what you are capable of is different from what you really want to do.

2. Get on Track

Be an expert on your field because you will definitely get paid higher through expertise. Work smart and be consistent in order to gain trust and patronage from your clients.

Aside from the guidance that I received from FVA Consultancy, even with my work experience mainly built around HR Management, it has always been a plan to go back to my first love which was accounting specifically bookkeeping. It is challenging but fun at the same time. I enjoy providing support including HR Management and other Administrative Tasks to my clients as I help in the success of their business.

I sincerely hope this has been helpful to your freelancing career start-up!
