As much as possible, gather up as much experience as you can, and when you feel like you already have the confidence, then go for it. You might as well do a slow transition from having a full-time job, you will do part-time freelancing, and soon become a full-time one. Do not underestimate yourself, it is part of the process where you need to put efforts hardly in the early days, but as soon as you overcome that difficult step, it will all be worth it.
