Introduction
Opting to choose freelancing as your career path may have not been easy due to a lot of matters to consider. You could have been in a situation that left you without a choice or just trying to find what you really want to do for the rest of your life. Either way, freelancing would be much easier if we are knowledgeable of the difference between what you can do, what you want to do and what you are willing to do to be able to do what you love. This is called knowing your right niche.
Niche, according to Cambridge Dictionary is a job or a position that is very suitable for someone, especially one that they like.
How to Choose the Right Niche?
As a freelancer, more often than not, it would take some serious amount of time to choose the right niche. You might already have something in your mind but we are not just talking about what you want to do but also about how much can you earn from it? Is it worth your while? Some people want to do what they love but some would put more consideration on how much they can be earning.
Here are some tips on finding the right niche.
- Know Your Capacity at Hand
As a professional, you must point out what your true capacity is. It is not enough to think that you can do a specific task when you are only familiar about it. Relevant skills must be pointed out in order to determine what is enough and what you should be working on to improve. Along the way of building your career, you might find yourself realizing that what you are capable of is different from what you really want to do.
2. Get on Track
Some aspiring virtual freelancers especially those who are strong-willed and has already built up their career can identify what niche they truly want to pursue and so they are able to be on track even from the start. For those who are just starting, it is never too late to do something that you love. Ride on that train to success by concentrating on your progress in your chosen niche as you strengthen your front for the greater challenges ahead.
3. Never Stop
As we all know, learning does not stop and so is building up your career in freelancing. Be bold and be ambitious. Don’t just take the safe road, climb mountains! Be an expert on your field because you will definitely get paid higher through expertise. Work smart and be consistent in order to gain trust and patronage from your clients.
Aside from the guidance that I received from FVA Consultancy, even with my work experience mainly built around HR Management, it has always been a plan to go back to my first love which was accounting specifically bookkeeping. It is challenging but fun at the same time. I enjoy providing support including HR Management and other Administrative Tasks to my clients as I help in the success of their business.
I sincerely hope this has been helpful to your freelancing career start-up!
